| Dr. Phylis Wakefield is a licensed clinical Psychologist and founder of Living Life Enterprises. She started Living Life Enterprises to create opportunities for people to discover and express what is really important to them and a place where they can receive the support, coaching and empowerment they want and need to realize their dreams.
As the Former Director of Psychiatry for Kaiser Permanente in the Central Valley, Dr. Wakefield provided leadership and direction to nearly 100 clinicians and staff for over 10 years. Her clinical expertise is in recovery from alcohol and other drug dependency, dual diagnosis (addiction combined with other psychiatric disorders), trauma, relationship issues and women’s issues. In both her clinical and management roles, Dr. Wakefield established an environment of collaboration, accountability and empowerment. These principles are the core foundation for success in realizing one’s own potential and the guiding principles for Living Life Enterprises.
After a decade of experience working in the Managed Healthcare environment, Dr. Wakefield is now available in private practice, offering groups and private sessions that support people in healing on a deep level and moving beyond their struggles to a more productive, fulfilling life in a flexible and less restrictive manner. Partnering with other community health care practitioners, including acupunct- urists, massage therapists, naturopathic physi- cians, as well as traditional psychiatrists and physicians, she is able to help design treatment / life plans that are practical and holistic.
In addition to earning her doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 1994, Dr. Wakefield has attended numerous continuing education trainings and workshops in the areas of Addiction, Alternative Health Care Approaches, Women’s Issues, Trauma, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Dual Diagnosis. She has been active in transformational workshops as a participant, assistant and facilitator for over 25 years. While her training is in Cognitive Behavioral and Psychodynamic psychotherapy, she utilizes an eclectic approach, drawing on her experience and training in the areas of communication, coaching, meditation, and guided imagery and a core belief in each individual’s ability to transform themselves.
